Keith W. Bentley has bound tires, hose, air filters, and punching bags with hide and horse hair to create a suite of enigmatic sculptures.  Born in Burlington, Vermont and raised just over the Canadian border in New Brunswick, Bentley’s practice is influenced as much by his east-coast heritage as it is by his love for the inorganic and the morbid. His multi-disciplinary approach and bizarre use of materials seek to immortalize bodies and practices that have since passed: everything from dead animals and salvaged industrial objects, to the most obscure of Victorian traditions.

This is Bentley’s first solo exhibition at p|m Gallery. We are excited to be showing this body of work and are looking forward to the series of white sculptures he is creating to be premiered at the Toronto International Art Fair in October.  Keith W. Bentley’s monumental sculpture, Cauda Equina 1995 - 2007, is currently on exhibition in Dead or Alive at the Museum of Art and Designin New York, April 25- October 24, 2010 and was featured in the New Yorker and the New York Times.
