Tearing through heavily stifled inner secrets, Kara deconstructs the adult self in a playful manner. Her works boldly confront the viewer with subject matter that displaces societal propriety, fleshing out long lost fears and dark secrets. Artist Statement:

“This exhibit is made up of images containing private rites, twisted fairy tales, early sexuality, youthful fears and dreams, biographical and autobiographical narratives. I enjoy getting inside people’s heads, mine and those of people close to me. We all have a confused, wicked little child within us, but how often do we admit the true nature of this beast? Selfishly sexual, eternally curious and imaginative, these paintings show adults in their childhood guise. Secret ways that friends masturbated when they were children, distorted rumors and fears about what sex is, terror of the monsters and the dark, this is a fun and psychologically fraught exhibition.”
