Peinture Extrême / 30 juin au 1er août

Organisé par le galeriste René Blouin et le peintre Benjamin Klein, Peinture extrême est un projet d’expositions ayant lieu à travers différentes galeries d’art contemporain à Montréal, membres de l’association des galeries d’art contemporain (AGAC). Peinture extrême se veut un forum sans contrainte sur l’état de la peinture actuelle. Pour l’occasion, la Galerie Orange a choisi des peintres aux genres et aux approches les plus divers, allant de la figuration débridée, aux œuvres engagées dans le renouvellement de l’abstraction, à un corpus qui s’inscrit dans la lignée de l’austérité radicale du minimalisme. Tous les artistes de Peinture extrême, écrit Blouin, partagent un engagement passionné pour la peinture et des convictions profondes quant aux possibilités de renouvellement (et de bouleversement) de son langage et de son vocabulaire.

Organised by gallerist René Blouin and artist Benjamin Klein, Extreme Painting is a collaborative exhibition project which takes place in multiple contemporary art gallery across Montreal; all members of the Association of Contemporary Art Galleries (AGAC). Extreme Painting is an open-ended, wide-ranging forum on the state of painting in Montreal, showcasing the skill and originality of painting-based practice across the city.

For the occasion, Galerie Orange has chosen a selection of paintings, in varying genres and approaches, representing uninhibited figurative works to the engaging regeneration of abstraction, and further towards a corpus of paintings that falls into the radical austerity of minimalism. All the artists grouped together in under the theme of Extreme Painting are, as per Blouin, diverse to the utmost extent, except in that they all pledge their devotion to the medium itself, believing it to be an infinitely renewable resource.
