July 7 - 30th.Meet the Artists: Thursday July 7th. 6 - 9 pmParticipating Artists: Lilly Butter, Taz Fletcher, Mathieu Laca, Michèle LeCourtois, Patrick John Mills, Bruce Stewart, Juan Manuel Vasquez, Shannon Lee Mannion and Lorena Ziraldo. Featured Sculptor: Deborah Arnold“The ugly can be beautiful, the pretty, never.” GauguinBeauty and ugliness appear at first sight to be total opposites when we think of art. But what about the disturbing beauty of gargoyles? What about the appeal of the tormented bodies of the damned in so many Renaissance paintings? Isn’t that the proof that beauty isn’t tied to moral values and isn’t standardized in any way? Moreover, beauty often comes out as intrinsically abnormal and sometimes even monstrous. The upcoming “Pretty Ugly Art” exhibition at the Patrick John Mills Gallery will demonstrate how profound beauty is and how far it is from superficial prettiness. It’s the true expression of an artist’s soul and, as such, can only be conveyed through a non-conventional use of the means of expression. At first glance, the resulting works may be frightening or disturbing, yes, even ugly but with exposure comes understanding and this selection of art, will by comparison, render all wall decoration totally dull. The gallery has 11 feet high ceilings and offers approximately 2,000 square feet of stimulating  and continually changing monthly exhibitions.
