Liao Yibai New Studio Shots

 

Mike Weiss Gallery is pleased to share with you new installation shots of Liao Yibai’s studio in Chongqing, China as he prepares for Real Fake, opening at Mike Weiss Gallery on September 10th, 2010. 

 

Yibai’s hand-welded stainless steel watches, rings, high heel shoes, and purses are impressive in scale and intricate in detail.  Distinctive among many noteworthy works by Chinese contemporary artists, the sculptures of Liao Yibai uniquely explore the proliferation of the fake as indicative of a larger cultural epidemic of globalism and uniformity.
