for Obscured Metropolis for this summer at Propeller Centre For the
Visual Arts.
I will be accepting submissions until the end of the week.
If for whatever reason you are unable to get your submission completed
by then just drop me a quick line and let me know.
This is going to be a really exciting show featuring a wide variety of
emerging artists, and the more participants the better.
Please find below the show description and the submission information. Exhibition Description: Inspired by Fritz Lang’s 1927 film Metropolis, Obscured Metropolis is
an exploration of the everyday encounters of the urban experience, as
interpreted by a group of emerging artists. It is both a critique and
celebration of living in an urban setting in the 21st century,
touching on the wide variety of associated issues. The urban experience is often illusive to describe; it is irrevocably
pervasive, touching every facet of our daily lives. Is it the daily
grind, commuter culture, the relationship between ourselves and the
space/people around us, various communities, pop culture, or consumer
culture… ? This exhibition will feature 20 emerging artists working in a wide
variety of media including photography, mixed media, graffiti and
street art, textiles, performance, and new media works. Obscured Metropolis encourages individual artists using different
approaches to create a dialogue discussing the urban experience. By
bringing together artists with very compellingly varying visions and
voices we hope to open a more universal forum to shed light on the
everyday urban experience. Submission Information:
