Johanna Nousiainen’s 40_under_40 performance-art series: a suite of 40 art-acts in 40 days leading to her 40th birthday
Through this project Johanna explores an “Amazing Decade” of women’s performance-art and filters it through her own life experience. These acts are performed in multiple series as follows:

1. Roots Up: changing art installation for the duration of the project;
2. Endless snow play: iconic snow-play memories in 4 participatory art acts;
3. Retouch-Reform- Remind: A Celebration of Womens’ handwork tradition in domestic settings;
4. Mother-Made/Mother-Maid: A “homage piece” supporting, sustaining and acknowledging possibilities for (in)sanity within domestic chaos;
5. Stitch and Bitch: All wrapped Up and Nowhere to Vent;
6. Women Venting: a series of women’s rants on video;
7. Vote for Women: a series of thought provoking slogans on banners;
8. Her Hands: Series of monologues; and
9. Self-portrait: Based on daily measuring of emotions through the duration of the project.

All 40 art-acts will be documented and images will be posted on this website once I am 40 years old!
