Join our guest speakers Joseph Rumi, Carol-Ann Ryan and Honore Marchant-Kelly as they talk about collecting Canadian Art, collecting Contemporary Art and managing collections.

After completing his Master’s degree in Art Business at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, Joseph Rumi joined Sotheby’s Canada as a Client Services representative and Personal Assistant to Mr. Allan Gotlieb, Chairman of Sotheby’s Canada. In 2007, Joseph left Sotheby’s to become the Director of Fine Art for Rumi Antiques & Fine Art. Established in 1981, Rumi Antiques & Fine Art is one of Eastern North America’s premier galleries specializing in 17th, 18th, 19th, & 20th century antiques and fine art, with locations in Ontario and Connecticut. Joseph is the Alumni Ambassador for Sotheby’s Institute in Canada and meets with numerous perspective students to discuss the institute, the art market, and career opportunities in the art world. He sits on the board of Oakville Galleries and is Co-Chair of the Fundraising Committee. He is also involved with art related charities including Art with Heart for Casey House Hospice and Behind Closed Doors, to benefit the Marvelle Koffler Breast Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital. In 2008, Joseph was named the official Curator of the Koffler Collection, which collection spans a century of Art History and includes works from Canada, the United States, India, Europe, and South America.
Carol-Ann M. Ryan is a Toronto-based arts educator, writer and collections manager. She is an instructor at the Toronto School of Art, University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, OCAD Continuing Studies, and educator in Adult Programs at the Art Gallery of Ontario and Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art. She has written for Border Crossings, C Magazine, and Canadian Art Online. As a collections manager she has catalogued and administered both historical and contemporary art collections for private clients.
Honore Marchant-Kelly has a Master of Museum Studies degree from the University of Toronto. She has worked for over ten years in the arts and cultural sectors in both the United States and Canada, having held positions with many institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Time Magazine, Historic Hudson Valley, the Art Gallery of Ontario and Lord Cultural Resources. Rory was with Ritchies Auctioneers for over four years, where she served as a Canadian and Inuit Art Specialist and the Assistant Director of Canadian Art. In addition to her present work as an independent writer, educator, art consultant and appraiser, she is an Art Specialist with a private art dealer and volunteers her time with the Royal Ontario Museum’s World Cultures Department, the St. Leonard’s Society of Toronto and Creative Art Gems. Rory also collects works by Canadian photographers.
