FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 8, 2012 —

Origo Books Gallery is proud to showcase a selection of works by local visual artists JANA CERNA-BACHTIK and MIKA HOLUBEC.

As a reflection of her own cognitive process, JANA’s paintings strives to express and channel the feelings, thoughts, and experiences incoming from the external world. Her work recognizes the body as the script of each individual’s personal story, convinced as she is that the figurative must become secondary to the inner state of being poured on the canvas and should be constructed from within, from those thoughts and feelings that shape our lives and determine our fates.

Photography provides MIKA with a deep spiritual connection with the subject, nature, and the world at large. Her urge to capture a moment and the emotion that streams out from it like an inner voice finds resonance in her hope that people absorb, experience, and feel enriched by the beauty of the instants she has felt blessed to have experienced.

JANA CERNA-BACHTIK is a Toronto-based visual artist with a steady track of solo and joint exhibits in the last decade. She studied Art Collage in her natal Czech Republic and classical painting at her arrival in Canada. Her work has been shown at the Hittite Gallery, Laurier Gallery, Zypr Gallery, Michelangelo Gallery and Praxis Gallery (Toronto), as well as the World Fine Gallery (New York), among others.

MIKA HOLUBEC has been taking photographs since her teen years while she was living in the Czech Republic. After her arrival in Canada, she studied Art and Photography at York University, Toronto. Her photos has been featured in several collective shows around the GTA.

SOUL THRU NATURE art show & sale will continue until Saturday March 31, 2012. Located at the store’s mezzanine, the Origo Books Gallery is open Monday to Friday, Noon to 6pm.

Opening date: Friday March 2, 2012 at 5:00pm.
